Sign Open Letter to the APA

January 9, 2024 5:19 pm

Dear CMA Colleagues:

Thank you for your prompt involvement last week in signing the petition to oppose the WHO’s transgender panel. Since that request, the number of supporters of the petition has more than doubled, and now counts over 9,000. It is obvious that clear-thinking people, like you, understand the issues involved, and are increasingly taking necessary action. There is yet another opportunity to make your voice heard.

In November 2023, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) released a text titled Gender-Affirming Psychiatric Care. The APA promotes this publication as “providing affirming, intersectional, and evidence-based psychiatric care” in gender identity disorders. Sadly, lacking in the text are references to the evidence of the harms of such measures, particularly from the European literature. In short, this book perpetuates the misguided aims of these interventions, and it should be withdrawn.

Please consider signing the petition calling for the retraction of this textbook. You have the option to sign anonymously if you wish. Also, please forward this request to your colleagues. You can find information about this petition and the link to sign it here: https://www.fairforall.org/open-letters/open-letter-apa/

Again, our appreciation for your consistent help with efforts like this is profound. We must remain engaged in these concerns to ensure that rational and ethical medical care is available to all. Please continue to pray for these efforts. God bless you all.

Tim Millea, M.D.

Chair, Health Care Policy Committee
