June Newsletter

June 17, 2024 5:13 pm

The artwork the FIRE committee chose for this month is the miraculous image of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (June 27), which is a copy of the original painting by St. Luke. She is the patroness of Haiti and you can read more about the meaning of this image from an Alberta parish named after her here. We would suggest one of several consecrations to Our Lady if you have not done so recently, including:

• 33 Days to Morning Glory by Michael E. Gaitley, MIC

• Preparation for Total Consecration to the Immaculate According to St. Maximillian Kolbe by Fr. Matthias M. Sasko FI

• Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the Hallow app.

All are very feasible with busy work schedules!

The next Thomistic Institute’s video is The Four Causes (Aquinas 101) by Fr Dominic Legge.

Our next CMA ZOOM Prayer Group will meet tomorrow, Sat. June 8 at 2:00 PM EDT. Join us in prayer here!

Our theme for June is Imitating the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. The Church dedicates the month of June to The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus (June 7), which is immediately followed by The Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary (June 8). Consider repeating, “Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us” throughout the day.

We would like to highlight St. Norbert (June 6) who, like St. Paul, was knocked off his horse and converted immediately from a life of pleasure to religious life. He founded the French order, the Norbertines, who, through powerful preaching, countered the heresies of that time, especially about the Blessed Sacrament. They are in 23 countries today and are the fifth oldest order in the Catholic Church.

St. Barnabas, Apostle (June 11), a cousin of St. Mark, was responsible for bringing St. Paul into the Church and introducing him to St. Peter. He accompanied St. Paul on many apostolic journeys as they preached to the Gentiles.

Father’s Day is June 16th, and we want to thank all our earthly fathers and spiritual fathers for their reflection of God’s love. We also offer some valuable resources and reflections on fatherhood:

Personal Prayer: A Guide for Receiving the Father’s Love by Frs. Thomas Acklin and Boniface Hicks
Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters: 10 Secrets Every Father Should Know by Dr. Meg Meeker
A Father Who Keeps His Promises: God’s Covenant Love in Scripture by Scott Hahn.

There is no better example of an extraordinary father than that of St. Joseph. We recommend Consecration to St. Joseph by Fr. Donald H. Calloway, MIC.

Lastly, St. Thomas More (June 22) wrote this letter to his daughter Margaret regarding his well-formed conscience shortly before his execution.

Please join us at the beautiful Caribe Royale Orlando for the next Annual Educational Conference, Imago Dei: Male and Female He Created Them, Sept. 5-7. To see the schedule and register, go here.
