Deepening our Interior Life for a Thriving Organization
March 11, 2024 4:45 pmDear CMA Members and Friends,
This year, I call all members to deepen their interior life as a source of thriving for our organization. As the Board has been learning through reading The Soul of the Apostolate by Trappist Monk Dom Jean-Baptiste Chautard, the only way to become an instrument and true channel of God’s graces to the world is by prayer, meditation, and the cultivation of the interior life. Therefore, we must remember that prayer should begin all that we do because “when we have formed Jesus Christ in ourselves, then only shall we be able to give Him easily to families and to societies.” With this foundation together, as laborers of Christ in medicine, we can continue to further the mission and vision of the Catholic Medical Association.
I also ask all our members to pray and fast on March 26 when the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the case of the FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine involving the dangerous deregulation for the use of mifepristone, the chemical abortion pill. I encourage our members who can attend in person to do so as our presence is needed. To register, please click here. Let us lift our voices in supplication, praying for the justices and attorneys that they may be guided by wisdom, compassion, and a deep respect for the sanctity of human life. Let us also pray for a change of heart in our society that all may come to recognize and uphold the dignity of every human person.
It was a delight to participate in the first CMA Town Hall for the Southeast Region of the U.S., where we had a large turnout and informative meeting. It was incredible to hear about all the exciting activities that our guilds in that region are organizing as a way to engage, inform and deepen the faith of new and existing members.
The purpose of the Town Hall is to reinforce the importance of our vision, “inspiring physicians to imitate Jesus Christ,” which is at the heart of all we do. The Town Hall is also meant to improve communication within the organization by promoting events within the region as well as information from the national office related to finance, news, membership and the promotion of the national conference. It also provides an opportunity to answer questions from our leaders and members. I look forward to meeting with members of the Midwest Region at our next Town Hall Thursday, March 21.
I pray you all will continue to have a fruitful Lent and for blessings awaiting you all at Easter!
In Christ,
Michelle Stanford
President
