Advocates of Truth

Dear CMA Members and Friends,

I am grateful for the liturgical seasons of the Church to help us grow in holiness. We begin the Easter season asking the questions, Is Jesus King of our hearts? We are to be the light in the darkness because at the resurrection Jesus Christ has redeemed us, made us anew.  In John 18:37, Jesus states, “For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice.”

In that spirit, we continue to be advocates of the truth in our lives and our profession. As an organization, we foster relationships with other allied organizations doing the same. Last week, we stood with Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine (AHM) as they spoke the truth at the Supreme Court with opening arguments to protect the well-being of teenage girls and young woman from the harmful effects of the abortion drug mifepristone. We are grateful that AHM, along with their counsel Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), have answered this prompting to speak truth in an effort to safeguard women’s health.

We also continue to improve our communications by holding town halls with our members by region. We held the Midwest Town Hall, led by Dr. Robin Goldsmith, on March 21. We look forward to this month’s town hall meetings for the Northeast region on April 18 and West region on April 25.

As we start a new month, I hope we continue to ask ourselves how we can be the light in the darkness and keep Jesus as the king of our hearts. At the Last Supper, which we celebrated on Holy Thursday, “Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me” (John 6 35-38).

Let us  double down on your efforts to foster our interior life through prayer, frequent reception of Holy Communion, confession, and spending time with Him in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. These practices will provide a foundation for knowing the will of God in our daily activities, thus allowing us to be the light in the darkness of the world.
